Sébastien Dumesnil
November 4, 2004

Sébastien Dumesnil is currently sharing production duties with Robert Nichols on Top Two Three Films' first release, the feature length documentary: “Adventures Into Digital Comics.”  He also wrote and directed the film.  He is the co-creator of Top Two Three Films with Robert Nichols.

Sébastien has received his degree in Film Production from Los Angeles City College, Department of Cinema and Television in June 2000.  Sébastien studied cinematography with Jean-Pierre Geuens, directing with Jim Desmarais, editing with Vaughn Obern, producing with Bruce Cook, and screenwriting with Tom Stempel, who serves on the editorial board of  Creative Screenwriting.  Top Two Three Films is currently in pre-production for Eva, a narrative short which Robert wrote at LACC for Tom Stempel.

Sébastien went to the musical school of Choisy-le-Roi, France, where he earned the completion diplomas in Musical Theory and Classical Guitar after six years of studies.

Sébastien went to the Collège/Lycée Epin, in Vitry-sur-Seine, France, where he received his Baccalauréat in Mathematics and Biology.  During his days at Epin, he also acted in three different plays.  The last one, a short adaptation of Stendhal's The Red and the Black, won the prize for best acting team performance at the Parisian schools' drama competition.  Still in high school, he is an intern for Régine Cardin's now defunct Production 2.  Ms. Cardin's newest company is RC1.  He worked on set for a video on the French Post Service, and on other post-production activities.

Sébastien then studied Mathematics and Physics at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, and Art History and Archaeology at La Sorbonne, in Paris.  After his military service, Sébastien moved to the US where he took a few classes of English as a second language at St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.  He received a prize of Excellence in Writing for his essay on Isaac Asimov.

Sébastien and Robert met at the Los Angeles City College, Department of Cinema and Television, where Sébastien shot three short films.  The last one was a 16-mm unedited abstract vision of flowers in Southern California.

Sébastien then started to work on a documentary film on comics.  What started as a wish to make a short documentary film on Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns became a feature-length work of love on the rise of webcomics, after reading Scott McCloud's Reinventing Comics.  The film currently is in the final steps of post-production.  He is helping Robert on the pre-production process on Eva.  He also prepares the post-Adventures Into Digital Comics era.

Sébastien currently lives with his wife in Los Angeles.
